This 100% cotton scarf is woven in the colours of the TMAC movement. For anyone that wants to proudly wear the colours associated with Female Empowerment on a global level. TMAC Gettes are modern day suffragettes, fighting for the cause of gender equality with the same passion that our ancestors did a hundred years ago.
The idea for these scarves came from wanting to create a connection between female empowerment initiatives across the world and throughout time. It is a symbol of female empowerment today, the women who made these vibrant pieces all come from a cooperative living on Lake Atitlan in Guatemala. The proceeds from these scarves provide an income for these women, all of whom work hard to support their families.
Every piece we sell through TMAC comes with our TMAC guarantee, this means that the women always receive a fair wage for their work. In addition to this, any profit made from products sold through TMAC is then placed into a fund and allocated according to the wishes of the women who made them.
This is a limited Edition Small batch Collection so get in there before they are all gone! To be worn by both men & women.
Can be machine washed in cold water
Atitlán Women Weavers were founded in 2014 by #femalefounder Anita with the aim of creating sustainable economic opportunities for local women living on Lake Atitlán in Guatemala. Many of these women are single mothers who rely on this work to support their families. The products you will find made by these artisans include Bedspreads, one of a kind scarves our signature clutches and perfect winter throws. All pieces are 100% cotton or silk dyed using naturally sourced colours and woven on a back loom.
