Product Details

The Huarmi of Ecuador use weaving and embroidery in the most incredible of ways. Over centuries the designs and styles created by this indigenous community have evolved and changed while retaining the traditions of their ancestors within the weaving process.

Our Huarmi scarf collection is made up 100% cotton wraps to keep your necks warm on those cold winter nights. The Huarmi Collection comes in a range of bright colours and styles. Each of these scarves are one of a kind and eminently wearable.

Through the Huarmi Collection, TMAC works to create sustainable income opportunities for indigenous women local to the town of Ovalo. By retaining weaving traditions and valuing the highly skilled work of these master craftswoman we are ensuring that this artwork continues to thrive and is not errradicated in place of poor quality, cheap products.

#morethanascarf

The raw materials of cotton, alpaca or sheep's wool are spun into yarn and then naturally dyed using locally foraged plants. These raw materials are then woven together on a weaving rack with each scarf taking three days to make.
