The Shipibo are a group of Indigenous people who live along the Ucayali River in the Amazon Rainforest in Peru. With an estimated population of around 20,000 people, the Shipibo people are slowly being forced into more urban areas such as Pucallpa and Yarinacocha to gain access to higher quality education and health services and also to look for alternative ways to generate incomes. TMAC works with the women from the communities of Saposoa and Nueva Patria to create international market access and sell their unique and extraordinary pieces. Find out more about our work with the Shipibo over at artisan stories.
